From outside the engine appears to be an ordinary gasoline engine but the changes lie in its piston design. It has conventional rod-crank system with a gear arrangement. It has higher performance, fuel efficiency and lesser polluting agents. The CR(compression ratio) varies with speed. At low CR, the twin turbochargers provide air while at higher CR air is naturally aspirated.
